Attorney Paul Smith appointed chairperson of the North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission

Governor Roy Cooper has appointed Patterson Harkavy attorney Paul E. Smith as chairperson of the North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.

The Safety and Health Review Commission is an independent administrative adjudicatory body that hears contestments of citations, penalties, and abatement periods issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Division of the North Carolina Department of Labor. Initial decisions are made by Administrative Law Judges throughout state, and may then be appealed to the three-member Commission. Paul was originally appointed to the Commission by Governor Cooper in 2019.
