NC Policy Watch Interviews Chris Brook About Controversial Board of Governors Refusal to Re-Elect UNC Press Leader

As part of its ongoing coverage of the Board of Governors refusal to re-elect UNC Law Professor Eric Muller to the governing board of the UNC Press, NC Policy Watch interviewed Patterson Harkavy partner Chris Brook. Though the Board of Governors failed to re-elect Professor Muller, state law allows him to continue to serve until replaced and he can only be replaced if the UNC Press puts forward another nominee. "That subsection is pretty straightforward," said Brook and means "Professor Muller would remain on the board." The failure to re-elect Professor Muller follows his criticism of the UNC System's handling of the Silent Sam Confederate monument controversy and broader questions about academic freedom on the Chapel Hill campus.
