Patterson Harkavy obtains $2.75 million partial settlement over police shooting

Patterson Harkavy has obtained a $2,750,000 partial settlement for Julian Betton, a man shot nine times in his own home during a police raid. The shooting left Mr. Betton in a coma for six weeks; he is now paralyzed from the waist down.

Patterson Harkavy brought suit against defendants including the officers who participated in the raid and their supervisors. The recent settlement resolves Mr. Betton’s claims against all but one of the shooters and the City of Myrtle Beach.

The partial settlement has received coverage in the Washington Post and the Charleston Post and Courier.
