On January 21, 2022, Region 10 of the National Labor Relations Board issued a decision directing that a union recognition election occur for medical providers employed at ten health centers operated across central North Carolina by Piedmont Health Services.
The Employer had sought to avoid the Union election by contending that the medical providers were supervisors who lacked the right to form a labor union, and that they lacked a sufficient community of interest to warrant inclusion in a unit. Attorneys Trisha Pande and Narendra Ghosh represented the Union before the National Labor Relations Board, which rejected the Employer’s position and directed that an election occur.
