Jessica graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1997, and from the University of North Carolina Law School, with honors, in 2001. In law school, she served on the North Carolina Law Review as a Staff Member and an Articles Editor. She was a law clerk to the Honorable Carl E. Stewart of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. After her clerkship, she practiced with a litigation firm in Asheville.

Jessica is active with the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers where she serves on the executive committee of the employment law section. She is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, and the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys. Her areas of practice include workers’ compensation, personal injury, employment law, and capital post-conviction cases.
