Credentials in Labor Union Representation

Michael Okun served as a litigation attorney in the Appellate Court Branch of the Enforcement Division of the NLRB in Washington. Currently serving as general counsel to the North Carolina State AFL-CIO, he has held leadership positions and in numerous labor lawyer associations, and actively sought legislative change on behalf of union workers. Mr. Okun teaches labor law at Wake Forest University School of Law. Before law school, he was an ironworker and remains a member of Local 843.

Jonathan Harkavy also worked for the NLRB in Region 11 in North Carolina before private practice. Today he practices as a neutral arbitrator or mediator in labor disputes. Mr. Harkavy has served as President of the District Bar, Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section and Co-Chair of the ABA’s Subcommittee on Employment at Will. He has been listed in every edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Labor and Employment.
